The UK's leading Latin American restaurant group, Las Iguanas, reaches its most southerly point with a new site at Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth.

The restaurant and bar serve freshly-prepared, authentic Latin American food and drink with a contemporary twist. The Latin food that we know today dates right back to the 16th Century and is a fusion of native Latin American Indian, Spanish, Portuguese and African influences. From the house speciality of xinxim (Brasilian lime chicken in creamy crayfish and peanut sauce) to the Cordero Columbian-style braised lamb shank to the fillet of bream served with warm salsa; every dish is a tasty blend of the traditional and the new.

At the bar – called 'the Cachaçaria' – enjoy some of the finest Latin spirits, including Las Iguanas Magnifica Cachaça distilled at the group's own sugar cane plantation outside Rio de Janeiro.

The 4000sq ft restaurant seats 150 inside and 120 outside. Interior designers Fusion DNA have created a little corner of a stylish Copacabana beach bar with imported fixtures and fittings, dramatic lighting and special features that make each restaurant unique. Add intoxicating Latin rhythms, a carnival atmosphere and service that's sunny side up and you've got Latin life, Las Iguanas style.
