Latin American restaurant, Las Iguanas and Costa Coffee are the latest signings to the newly developed East Side Plaza at Gunwharf Quays, Land Securities' £200 million mixed-use development on the waterfront at Portsmouth Harbour.
Las Iguanas joins the scheme following the signing of Raymond Blanc's Brasserie Blanc in the summer and will occupy 4,072 sq ft (378 sq m) of space within units 108-111 on a 20-year lease at £45 per sq ft. Las Iguanas was chosen for the scheme following offers from seven quality restaurants and will be creating a 140 cover restaurant and bar where visitors can look forward to authentic Latin American food and drink including Xinxim Brazilian lime chicken which claims to be Pele's favourite dish.
Costa Coffee strengthens an already impressive line-up of café offerings, joining Caffe Nero, Café Giardino, Café Rouge and Starbucks and has taken a 10-year lease on unit 112 comprising 1,014 sq ft (94 sq m) at £60 per sq ft.
As well as offering the finest coffee, Costa has a wide range of alternatives including hot chocolate, teas and infusions, iced coffees & frescato.
The seven units which form part of East Side Plaza include 10,000 sq ft of flexible A1 and A3 space, located at a pivotal point in the heart of the 1.5 million sq ft Gunwharf Quays development. In addition, East Side Plaza will be home to over 300 new residential units including a spectacular 30-storey tower, the tallest under construction on the south coast.
Phil Cottingham, portfolio director at Land Securities added: "East Side Plaza is a strong addition to the Gunwharf Quays offer. Both Costa Coffee and Las Iguanas are great signings for the scheme and will join the other top name brands that enjoy solid trading figures. Las Iguanas is an exciting, energetic and vibrant brand, while Costa Coffee is a great UK success story and these and other recent signings confirm and consolidate Gunwharf Quays as the South Coast's finest leisure and retail destination."
There are more than 90 top brand outlet stores and over 20 restaurants and bars at Gunwharf Quays. In addition, there is a 14 screen Vue Cinema, 26 lane Bowlplex, Jongleurs Comedy Club, Grosvenor Casino, Tiger Tiger late night venue and 130 room Express by Holiday Inn hotel and health and fitness club.
Head Retail and twentyretail are joint letting agents for the scheme. Costa Coffee was advised by Briant Champion Long and Las Iguanas by Insight Retail.
