Watch out, watch out there's a tiger about!

Gunwharf Quays events are taking a "Voyage East" in 2008 to explore the cultures and stories of the Far East.   Following on from the success of the Chinese New Year celebrations in February, the next stop on the cultural tour was Bangladesh, and a celebration of the Bangladeshi New Year – Boishakhi!

The new year celebrations on Monday 14th April were a culmination of work within the local Bangladeshi community, and during free workshops held at Gunwharf Quays during the school holidays.  Hundreds of participants came along to join the procession as a giant Royal Bengal Tiger prowled along the road from Portsmouth Historic Dockyard to Gunwharf Quays.

This event was also the start of the story of "The Tiger & The Emperor" which will be told in full on 15th June – so there's still an opportunity to come and hear the Tiger roar at Gunwharf Quays!
