From 27th March, Aspex Portsmouth will present Inside, a three-month immersive and participatory exhibition exploring what home means through the stories and histories of people living with a learning disability in Portsmouth.
Created by artists from participatory arts organisation This New Ground alongside commissioned artists Nathan Wong and Orlando Richardson, Inside invites visitors to become part of the work. Audiences are encouraged to listen, touch, slow down and, at moments, walk in someone else’s shoes.
Blending sound, image and everyday objects, the exhibition reimagines what an exhibition can be, opening a space where voices reclaim the city’s identity from their own viewpoint. It asks where we belong, how we make place, and what it means to be seen, heard and at home.
This New Ground is an inclusive arts organisation supporting artists with a learning disability to make, share, and lead bold creative work. The organisation works to remove barriers and increase access, enabling people with a learning disability to make, participate in and lead artistic work.
Inside will be on display at Aspex Portsmouth for three months from 27th March.
